The 2024 Formula 1 season has been thrilling, with plenty of memorable moments and exciting races that kept fans in their seats. It was a season full of excitement, rivalries, and unexpected wins. Let's recap the season and all of the thrilling moments!

Lewis Hamilton moving to Ferrari

The season started with the shocking news of Lewis Hamilton moving to Ferrari from the 2025 season, parting ways with Mercedes. Lewis has won six world titles with Mercedes, winning his first with Mclaren. Hamilton expressed his gratitude for his many years at Mercedes and said that the time was right to take this step. He was determined to deliver his best performance for his last season with Silver Arrows.

Bahrain Grand Prix

After this news, it was time for the first race of the season in Bahrain. Even though it seemed like Verstappen was struggling with his setup, he still managed to get his first pole position of the season. During the race, we can see the fierce battle between the Ferraris. In the end, it was the Red Bull of Max Verstappen that won the Bahrain Grand Prix and the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz that came in third, beating his teammate Charles Leclerc.

Saudi Arabian Grand Prix

Sainz missed the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix because he had to undergo surgery. This gave Olie Bearman his Formula 1 debut. And what a debut he had, scoring points and coming in P7. It's safe to say that he impressed a lot of fans.

Australian grand prix

Then, it was time for the Australian Grand Prix. Carlos Sainz made his return, shocking many people since it wasn't weeks ago that he had surgery. Still, Carlos Sainz was determined to participate in the race. And what a race that was. Verstappen got pole position but had an issue with his right brake during the race. Because of this, he was forced to end his race early. As Carlos Sainz was right on his tail, he immediately took his chance and overtook Verstappen. He won the race, impressing a lot of people. This was perfect for Sainz since he was still without a seat for the 2025 season.

The beginning of the problems for Red Bull and the start of Mclaren coming closer to them

Verstappen did bounce back for the Japanese and Chinese Grand Prix, winning both races. There was still a lot of news around Red Bull since Adrian Newey announced that he would be leaving Red Bull after having been there since 2006. And the bad luck kept following them as Verstappen hit a cone during the Miami Grand Prix. Norris then finally won his first grand prix with McLaren. He was so happy with the win that his confidence indeed increased significantly. It was a close call during the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix as Norris got very close to overtaking Verstappen and winning the race. He eventually had to settle for P2.

Monaco Grand Prix

Then, it was time for the most spectacular and extravagant race in the 2024 calendar. The Monaco Grand Prix. Ferrari was the favourite for winning the race as Leclerc had been P1 in two free practices. The Monaco Grand Prix was always tough for Leclerc as he had a lot of bad luck with this race. He faced issues such as engine failure, wrong strategies and even gearbox issues, which forced him to drop out of the race. Leclerc was determined to win this race as this would mean a lot for him. Eventually, the bad luck ended as he won the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix. This win meant a lot for him and his family. And it's safe to say that everyone was happy for him.

Canadian and Spanish Grand Prix

Then, it was another win for the Canadian and Spanish Grand Prix for Red Bull, but Norris was still behind him in both races. The Austrian Grand Prix was thrilling as Norris and Verstappen had a close battle. This close battle eventually saw the shocking crash between them. Norris was forced to retire the car, but Verstappen didn't. His chances of winning the Grand Prix were minimal. It was George Russel who eventually won the grand prix.

British Grand Prix

The British Grand Prix was very special for Hamilton as it was his final home Grand Prix with Mercedes. He was determined to win the race, and he did. The race was thrilling, and many great battles and overtakes were seen.

Hungarian Grand Prix

Then it was time for the Hungarian Grand Prix, which was won by Oscar Piastri after having swapped his position with Mclaren teammate Lando Norris. Mclaren definitely showed their dominance, having won 6 races during the season.

Singapore Grand Prix

Then, it was time for the Singapore Grand Prix, which saw a lot of close battles. It was also Daniel Riccardo's last race after being in Formula 1 for fourteen seasons. He had won eight races during his time in Formula 1. His most iconic win was, of course, the Monaco Grand Prix in 2018. He will definitely be missed in Formula 1.

The last few races

Then, the last few races were in sight. The Mexican Grand Prix was full of close moments between Verstappen and Norris; because of these close calls, the FIA gave Verstappen a 10-second penalty twice. Eventually, Max Verstappen won the driver's championship. It was imposing since he had so many issues with his car. Because of these issues, Red Bull lost the constructors championship to Mclaren. It was spectacular for McLaren to win this as they last won the constructors championship in 1998. So it certainly meant a lot to them.
